One Yellow Rabbit Theatre is in their 30th season! I first met this talented collection of artists in 1986 at the Banff Centre for the Arts where I was a photographer in residence. They were work-shopping an experimental /innovative stage performance entitled “Tears of a Dinosaur” featuring the puppetry of Ronnie Burkett. One dinosaur puppet towered 2 stories above the stage while another was a small marionette. Denise Clarke got naked. It was OYR as a seedling and I believe it was that experience in part that lead me back to pursue the Calgary Arts scene.
I was shooting on 35mm transparency film, processing it all by hand. I remember holding up the first wet, amazingly colorful film strip from their show. I was hooked, and apparently so were the Rabbits because we can all look back after 30 years and say we are still on the journey. Here are some images from our latest shoot in studio with OYR.
